Atlanta Braces for Another Severe Storm
ATLANTA (AP) — Crews hadn’t even had time to assess the damage from a possible tornado that ripped through downtown, smashing skyscraper windows, sucking furniture out of hotel rooms, crumbling part of an apartment building and rattling a packed sports arena, before they braced for another storm on Saturday.
An even larger system than the one that hit Friday night was forecast to move through northern Georgia starting at daybreak, bringing heavy rains and high winds to the area, said Vaughn Smith, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Peachtree City. Crews were expected to be in downtown Atlanta then to determine whether Friday’s damage was caused by a tornado, he said.
At an early morning news conference, Mayor Shirley Franklin called the storm “what we now know was a tornado.” But weather service officials continued to say only that a “possible tornado” hit around 9:40 p.m., accompanied by a storm packing 60 mph winds.
No action on Man Utd rape claim
Mr Evans, 20, was arrested after claims a 26-year-old woman was raped at the Great John Street Hotel, Manchester, in December 2007.
Police revealed the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had taken the decision not to prosecute.
The CPS said there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
A police spokeswoman said: “The CPS has now taken the decision to take no further action against the man arrested following an incident at a city centre hotel on Tuesday December 18 2007.”
Belfast-born Mr Evans, who is currently on loan at Sunderland, was arrested after a woman made an allegation of rape during a private party at the boutique hotel.

Developer Brian Anderson sued over Kauai hotel transaction
Developer Brian Anderson and his wife are being sued by a company that held an interest in Anderson’s purchase of the Aloha Beach Hotel on Kauai.
Holualoa Aloha LLC, based in Arizona, filed a lawsuit on March 4 alleging Anderson’s company, Anekona Aloha LLC, Anderson and Joan Anderson agreed last June 12 to buy all of Holualoa Aloha’s interest in the company that owns the Kapaa hotel, and signed a promissory note for $2.65 million but then failed to make a balloon payment on Dec. 3.
The lawsuit says the Andersons and the company now owe a total of $2.76 million, including interest of 18 percent per year.
Anderson’s Anekona Aloha Ownership LLC, which is registered to Anekona Aloha LLC, bought the hotel, which sits on six acres of state-owned oceanfront land, in April 2006 for $9.175 million, according to public records. The 216-room hotel near Wailua Bay is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation and as of Feb. 1 is managed by ResortQuest Hawaii and known as ResortQuest Aloha Beach Hotel.

The new Hilton Garden Inn across from Centennial Olympic Park is upping the ante in luxury accommodations.
The hotel is the first in the city to offer a helipad to its well-heeled customers.

The pad, on the 15th floor, is the latest amenity being offered by Atlanta hotels to distinguish themselves in the city’s competitive lodging sector. From butlers to spas to restaurants created by celebrity chefs, Atlanta’s hotels are sprinting to top each other to attract big spenders.
Mark Newton, program director of the hotel, restaurant, tourism management program at Gwinnett Tech, said the helipad will definitely give the Hilton Garden Inn a marketing advantage.
“Every brand is trying to find a way to get the consumer to notice their product,” he said. “You want to be remembered. It’s all about positioning.”
